AMD Ryzen Full Lineup Prices, Specs & Clock Speeds Leaked – 8 Cores Starting At $319, 6 Cores At $229 & 4 Cores At $129

AMD Ryzen Full Lineup Prices, Specs & Clock Speeds Leaked – 8 Cores Starting At $319, 6 Cores At $229 & 4 Cores At $129

Pricing along with the specifications and clock speeds for AMD’s full Ryzen lineup has been leaked. AMD’s next generation family of enthusiast desktop CPUs is due March 2nd and is poised to take on Intel at every market segment. The Zen microarchitecture is the fastest and most power efficient ever developed by the company. With early benchmarks already showing AMD’s 8 core, 16 thread $389 Ryzen 7 1700X competing favorably with Intel’s $1000+ behemoths.

The particular leak we’re going to be covering in this article originates from an internal product list of a Chinese retailer. Thanks to several retailers listing the Ryzen 7 1800X, 1700X and 1700 online for pre-order over the past few days, we already know the prices for three of the 17 Ryzen CPUs. Thanks to today’s leak however, we have the full price list in addition to the Base and Turbo clock speeds of the chips and even their L3 Cache sizes. So without any further delay, let’s dig in!

AMD Ryzen 7 1800X, 1700X & 1700 – 8 Core, 16 Thread CPUs From $319 To $499

Let’s start from the very top. All three of these chips have already been listed online by ShopBLT. A retailer that also listed every AMD CPU prior to its release over the past several years. Including the Athlon X4 845 and the Kaveri A10 7850K and A10 7700K chips. Not only that, but its prices were also spot on, exactly matching the official MSRPs at launch. Perhaps it has proven accurate time and time again because it retrieves product pricing data from the database of one of the biggest channel suppliers in the world.

The above information will prove crucial in translating the leaked Chinese retail prices from the Yuan to the Dollar.
If we convert the prices of the Intel chips from the Yuan to the Dollar we immediately notice a 20-25% markup compared to US retail prices. For example, according to the above price chart the i7 6850K is priced at the equivalent of $698. While the same chip is listed at $569 on Amazon.com. This comes up to a 25% mark-up, likely tax related. We notice the same trend with every one of the other Intel chips. With mark-ups varying from 20-25%. The Ryzen 7 1800X, 1700X and 1700 are priced higher by a similar margin to the Intel counterparts compared to the USD list prices we saw on ShopBLT.
With that in mind, in the table below you’ll find what the retail prices would come out to in USD excluding VAT or any other taxes. In other words these are the prices that you should expect to see in places like Amazon, Newegg or your local retail store anywhere in the US.

AMD Ryzen 5 1600X & 1500 – 6 Core, 12 Thread CPUs From $229 To $259

Moving on towards more of the mid-range of the market AMD will be offering the Ryzen 5 1600X and the 1500.

In the above table we notice the same mark-up trend we noticed with the previous one. The i7 7700K for example is priced at the equivalent of $407, $57 more than the $349 US retail price for the chip. You’ll notice the same kind of mark-up with the i7 7700 and i5 7600K prices listed in the above table.

Because we don’t actually have any online product listings in USD of the Ryzen CPUs listed above, what we did is we looked at the mark-up percentage wise for each of the most closely priced Intel CPU and deducted that mark-up from the price of the Ryzen chip.

Continuing our focus on the medium range, the Ryzen 5 1400X and 1300 offer the same kind of specifications and performance you’d expect from an i7 quad-core chip albeit at slightly lower clock speeds and for around two thirds to a half of the cost. Quite incredible..

At the entry level of the Ryzen stack we have two quad-core chips without multi-threading. Amazingly, both of these chips are actually cheaper than Intel’s dual core i3-7350K. It’s worthy of note that all Ryzen chips feature fully unlocked multipliers. So all Ryzen chips are overclocking ready right out of the box. You won’t have to pay extra for an unlocked chip like you’d normally do on the Intel side. So long as you have an X370 or B350 AM4 motherboard, you’re good to go.

AMD Ryzen CPU Coolers Pictured – New Wraith, 95W & 65W Versions

AMD Ryzen CPU Coolers Pictured – New Wraith, 95W & 65W Versions

The CPU coolers for AMD’s upcoming Ryzen lineup have been pictured.

AMD’s President and CEO Lisa Su confirmed that Ryzen will be released in early March. It was later confirmed that the release date is in fact set for March 2nd. The new line-up starting with the $499 Ryzen 7 1800X and ending with the Ryzen 3 1100 includes 17 different models. Four octo-core CPUs, three hexa-cores and six quad-cores. All Ryzen chips feature fully unclocked multipliers, making every one of them overclocking-ready right out of the box. AMD’s 8 core Ryzen 7 1800X will turbo all the way to 4.0GHz, paired with a high quality cooling unit there’s no telling how high these chips will overclock.

Meet AMD’s New Ryzen Coolers

Senior Vice President & Radeon Technologies Group Chief Architect Raja Koduri having a “special moment” with his new Ryzen PC

This brings us neatly to AMD’s two brand new boxed coolers for Ryzen in addition to what appears to be an aesthetic update to the beloved Wraith cooler which debuted last year. The first of the three will come with 65W rated Ryzen CPUs, the second is for 95W CPUs and the third will likely be paired with Ryzen Black Editions. Black Edition are said to have the letter X at the end of their model numbers, like the 1800X and the 1700X for example. This is merely educated conjecture at this point. We won’t know for sure until the end of the month.

If the photo of AMD’s Chief Graphics Architect Raja Koduri is anything to go by, all three new coolers will feature LED lighting. Perhaps even customizable RGB lighting. Seeing how magenta is not AMD’s corporate or brand color, it’s likely that Raja chose that custom color. It also appears from the rendering that the two smaller coolers actually have the same 92mm fan that comes with the Wraith, which is very good news. The new fan is significantly quieter than its small noisy predecessor.

The Wraith cooler features four copper heatpipes, the largest thermal mass by far of any stock processor heatsink that we’ve seen and a near silent fan that’s considerably larger and more more effective than any of AMD’s previous stock CPU cooling solutions. In fact, you wouldn’t be able to guess that the Wraith unit is a stock CPU heatsink rather than a high-end aftermarket low profile unit had it not been for the AMD branding on the shroud.

AMD Ryzen 7 1700 Specs Confirmed, A $320 Rival To Intel’s $1099 i7 6900K – 8 Cores, 65W, 3.7Ghz With Unlimited Boost & Unlocked Multiplier

AMD Ryzen 7 1700 Specs Confirmed, A $320 Rival To Intel’s $1099 i7 6900K – 8 Cores, 65W, 3.7Ghz With Unlimited Boost & Unlocked Multiplier

The AMD Ryzen 7 1700 is an 8 core, 16 thread chip with a 3.7Ghz clock speed and a $320 price tag. That makes it the most affordable 8 core CPU in the Ryzen lineup and by far the most exciting from a performance per dollar point of view.

We talked about this particular chip yesterday when its price was confirmed alongside two other chips, the Ryzen 7 1800X and 1700X, by the online retailer shopblt.com. It’s been spotted at another online retailer, this time with the entirety of its spec sheet and feature-set made public. So let’s dig in shall we!

AMD Ryzen 7 1700 – A Mighty Octa-Core For Quad-Core Money

Let’s start with the basics.
  • Product ID : YD1700BBAEBOX
  • Processor: Summit Ridge Octa-Core (8 Cores /16 Threads )
  • Frequency: 3.7 GHz
  • TDP ( Thermal Design Power ) : 65 Watt
  • Socket: AM4
  • Package: Boxed With Wraith Cooler
  • Memory Support: Dual-Channel DDR4-2400
  • List Price (Bulk) : $316 ( Expected retail price ~$320 )
I can already hear your gasps. Yes this is an eight core sixteen thread CPU just like Intel’s $1099 Broadwell-E i7 6900K. Yes it has the same boost clock speed of 3.7Ghz. And yes, it’s rated at less than half the power, 65W compared to 140W. AMD has already demonstrated that core for core and clock for clock Ryzen is at least on par with Intel’s Broadwell-E and can in fact be faster.

We’re talking about the same number of cores, same number of threads, similar performance per core and per clock at less than one third the price. What AMD has here in the Ryzen 7 1700 is perhaps the bargain of the decade. Even if it ends up being ten percent, fifteen percent, heck, twenty percent slower. At around $320 you can build an entire VR and 1440p ready gaming, rendering and editing workstation for less than what it would cost you to buy one 6900K.

The product description published by hardwareeschotte.de includes a couple of more details confirming some of Ryzen’s features that are sure to have AMD fans excited to bits.

The Ryzen 7 1700 has an unlocked multiplier, exactly like AMD’s Black Edition Ryzen 7 1700X and 1800X processors.
AMD Ryzen processors have no fixed turbo clock – the maximum Turbo clock is dependent on the cooling.

Overclocking A Ryzen CPU

AMD has talked about, and we have reported on, both of the above features in a broader context before. AMD made a big fuss at CES about how all Ryzen CPUs will have unlocked frequency multipliers to facilitate easy overclocking. This means that users will be able to overclock any one of the 17 SKUs that we’ve seen to date by simply pairing their CPU with a mid-range B350 or high-end X370 AM4 motherboard and raising the frequency multiplier inside the motherboard’s UEFI/BIOS interface. In comparison, Intel has just three CPUs in its entire Kaby Lake lineup that are unlocked for overclocking.

Another interesting bit that we have reported on in one of our Ryzen exclusives a while back is Ryzen’s amazing XFR feature, short for Extended Frequency Range. Which allows every Ryzen CPU to automatically overclock itself and exceed its default boost clock speed whenever the thermal environment allows. This means that if you invest in a cooling solution that’s better than AMD’s Wraith, your Ryzen chip will automatically operate at higher clock speeds than what’s written on the box, rewarding you with more performance.

XFR in combination with two other features, Pure Power and Precision Boost, work in tandem to ensure that all active cores are running at the highest clock speeds they are capable of without exceeding the default power and thermal limits. Upgrading to a higher end cooling unit gives you more thermal headroom and adjusting the maximum TDP limit in your motherboard’s UEFI/BIOS settings has the same effect on the power headroom. And of course you have the option to overclock the good old fashioned way, by upping the frequency multiplier and voltage until you exhaust the thermal headroom of your cooling. What XFR, Pure Play and Precision Boost do is make sure that your chip gives you its best right out of the box, without the need for user intervention. Whether you choose to push for more is entirely up to you.

New Galaxy S8 Battery Rumors Pits a Smaller Cell Inside Both High-End Phones

New Galaxy S8 Battery Rumors Pits a Smaller Cell Inside Both High-End Phones

A previous rumor suggested that the upcoming Galaxy S8 would be outfitted with a 3,250mAh battery, resulting in more screen-on time as a result of the better capacity as well as the efficient components present inside the upcoming flagship. However, the latest one states that the battery capacity is going to be slightly less than what earlier rumors claimed, but at least users will have the advantage of energy efficiency going for them once they purchase the Galaxy S8.

Galaxy S8 Rumored to Feature a 3,000mAh Battery – No Less Than the Battery Found in the Galaxy S7

One Samsung official has been reported by the Korea Herald to have stated the following regarding the company’s decision on the battery capacity present in the Galaxy S8.

“After completing a rage of tests, Samsung made a final decision to deploy the battery capacity for the two S8 variants.”

Since Galaxy S8 Plus is going to be the larger of the two models, it will come with a larger battery. The rumor points out that the phone will be outfitted with 3,500mAh battery, and disappointingly, it is less than the 3,600mAh battery present in the Galaxy S7 edge and equivalent to the capacity that was present in the Galaxy Note 7. Perhaps the company believes that reducing the thickness of the smartphone would result in such a sacrifice being made.

However, because both devices are expected to be incorporated with next-gen components made on a smaller manufacturing process, it could result in better battery life as opposed to the previous-generation lineup. In addition, Samsung’s user interface has also allowed you to reduce the resolution of the smartphones in order to rake more battery life out of both devices. Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus are expected to come running Super AMOLED panels at a resolution of 1440p so, in situations where you need battery life over a crisp display, you can always tone down that resolution.
